EXHIBIT HISTORY:
“dream.GIRLS” began as a series of workshops led by Minna Pyyhkala in Prague, the Czech Republic, in 2004 and 2005. The participants in the “dream. GIRLS” workshop were asked to focus on three elements.
1. Female fantasy (daydreams)
Each category was broken down. Female archetypes and the four elemental archetypes - fire, air, water and earth - were examined and discussed. Emphasis was placed on “you are your own heroine”. On several occasions, the participants also photographed one another dressed as their favorite archetype.
Other assignments included: being photographed by someone unfamiliar with photography; the “pre” dream girl, the child, the womb; women’s undergarments; women from our past (mothers, etc.); dream journals; daydreams; what defines us today as women; how women empower other women; definition of a material girl.
